Blue and green rot
Blue and green rot in citrus fruits
Penicillium italicum (blue mold) and Penicillium digitatum (green mold) infect citrus fruits through wounds and cause symptoms to develop during storage and transport.
The efficacy of the preparations is tested by inoculating and treating wounds on organic lemons. Both fungi develop rot spots around the inoculated wounds. Comparing the diameter of the rot spots in the treated group with that in the water control group determines the efficacy of the preparation.
