Fusarium spp.

Fusarium spp.

Diseases caused by fungi of the genus Fusarium are referred to as fusariosis.

Fusarium avenaceum (GIBBAV) causes symptoms on apples, among other crops, and efficacy trials are conducted as described for apple rot.

Otherwise, fusariosis is known as a wilt disease affecting many crops. In cereals and corn, significant damage is caused by ear fusariosis (Fusarium culmorum (FUSACU) and Fusarium graminearum (GIBBZE)) and the resulting contamination of the crop with mycotoxins. Fungi of the genus Fusarium frequently produce mycotoxins, which are highly toxic to humans and livestock when ingested.

In vitro efficacy test

Would you like to have the efficacy of a product tested against one of the pathogens causing fusarium wilt (Fusarium spp.)? With our in vitro test, you can quickly get an initial indication of your product’s direct efficacy against fungi of the genus Fusarium. In the test, conidia of the fungus are mixed with the product and pipetted onto agar plates. Colony growth is observed at 20°C over several days in comparison to an untreated control and a chemical standard. This test is particularly suitable for determining the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC).
